so my school called the police on me

so basically my school actually went and called the police on me. like actual officers. got a voicemail and everything from a PC saying they'd received a report about me for "harassment of a teacher and misuse of computer systems" 💀

the list of things they tried to pin on me was actually insane:

accessing a confidential SEND document
using an "obscure mail server" to communicate outside school
running PowerShell and accessing remote servers and NAS drives
using a USB device to run unauthorised software

except here's the thing. basically none of it is what they made it sound like.

the SEND file

the SEND file was just… sitting there. openly accessible to every single student and staff member. i found it, recorded a video of exactly how i got there, and saved it to my school OneDrive specifically so staff could see the breach. i was literally trying to report it and they tried to turn it into a crime.

the "obscure mail server"

this was my own personal webmail that i only used because they'd confiscated my laptop. so i had no other way to communicate. that's it.

the NAS drive

this one is actually laughable. it's literally just like a personal Google Drive. i was backing up my schoolwork. that's it. that's the whole crime apparently.

the USB

broken. didn't even work. they plugged it in themselves and confirmed it. i was using it as a fidget toy.

oh and there were 18 harassing emails sent to a teacher from some unhinged gmail account — police confirmed that has nothing to do with me either.

the interrogation

and then one friday they decided to pull me into a room and interrogate me for three hours straight without letting me go get lunch. took my phone, laptop, mouse, headphones, and chargers. all of it. just gone. for three hours. i'm a disabled autistic kid and they just… did that.

what it did to me

throughout all of this — the head of IT, pastoral, all of them — the way it was handled was so bad that it actually triggered me into becoming mute. like it didn't just stress me out. it took away my ability to speak. and they're acting like i'M the problem.

i now don't talk in person to literally anyone except my mum, my cat, and 3 friends. that's it. that's my entire world of verbal communication. thanks school 👍

the PC handling it has been reasonable — not taking a punitive approach, just mentioned a voluntary cyber programme. so at least there's that.

the school basically constructed an entire case out of thin air, misrepresented everything, and went straight to the police. and now i'm not even going anymore — i'm being home educated. so that's where we're at 🙃
